Fermented Coral

Fermented Coral

Fermented Coral Armor explores the tension between protection and vulnerability through a ceramic torso structure featuring a helmet, shoulder guards, and spine-like elements extending down the back. Adorned with coral-inspired textures, the piece suggests emotional buildup and slow transformation—like pain hardened into defense. Black silk ribbon binds the components together, softening the rigid surfaces while hinting at fragility and restraint. The coral forms, once living, now brittle, symbolize how our emotional armor can calcify over time. This work reflects the invisible weight of self-preservation and the complex beauty of what we create to protect ourselves.
